Michelle Williams began singing in her church choir, performing her first solo on "Blessed Assurance" at the age of seven at the St. Paul Church of God in Christ in her hometown of Rockford, IL. As she grew up, she sang with the gospel groups United Harmony and Chosen Expression, but doubted she would be able to make a career as a singer and attended two years of college. In May 1999, however, she passed an audition to become a backup singer for Monica and toured with her through October. Then in January 2000, she was invited to join Destiny's Child. Becoming a member of the rapidly emerging superstar group, she was first heard on their number one single "Independent Women Part I" and went on to participate in their massively successful 2001 album Survivor, the holiday release 8 Days of Christmas, and the remix album This Is the Remix. Plumb wanted to leave the music industry after the 2000 album. Lee received a note from a girl a few hours before what she thought to be her final concert. The letter was about the Plumb song "Damaged" that Tiffany had written and recorded about a girl coping with being molested as a child. The note said "'Whatever you do, I just want you to never forget that you have changed someone's life." The note inspired Tiffany to remain in the music industry. She signed to Curb Records as a solo artist in 2003, releasing the album Beautiful Lumps of Coal. In order to leave Essential Records, Plumb had to fulfil her contract obligations, and this led to The Best of Plumb record in 2000 despite the fact she had only released two albums previously. The lead single from Plumb's 2003 Beautiful Lumps of Coal, called "Real", peaked at #41 in the UK.

Her latest album Chaotic Resolve entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart at #177 on March 9, 2006. Better reached #1 on the U.S. Christian airplay chart. The Bronleewe & Bose remix of her follow up, "Cut", hit #1 on XM's dance hits channel BPM, and #5 on Billboard's Dance Charts Hot Dance Airplay.

Plumb's music has been heard on major film soundtracks (Bruce Almighty, Just Married, View from the Top, Brokedown Palace, Drive Me Crazy, The Perfect Man, etc.) and TV series (Dawson's Creek, Felicity, ER, Roswell, etc.).

She has also written songs for artists such as Michelle Branch, Kimberley Locke, and Mandy Moore. Amy Lee (no relation) of Evanescence mentioned that Plumb was one of her inspirations.

Her third solo album Blink is scheduled to be released on October 9, 2007. "In My Arms", the first single off the album, has been released.

In the early '90s there was no hotter group in Soul than Boyz II Men. The Philadelphia foursome were smoother than their hometown brand of cream cheese, and they shattered chart records with lush, smartly crafted ballads.

They also almost single-handedly brought the art of harmony singing back to pop music and paved the way (don't hate them) for the succeeding onslaught of (lesser) boy bands and teen idols. The big news isn't just that the group is back on the scene, ready to reclaim their crown. It's that this CD is self penned and self produced; and the low-key-but-pointed title indicates that the group, who always relied less on image than on musicality, is ready to prove that substance does matter. That the foursome, who still sound great, wrote this album is no minor detail because, at their height, Boyz II Men were the recipients of some of the best songs that serial hitmakers such as Jam and Lewis and Babyface had in their respective trick bags. On this, their fifth CD, the group works without that creative safety net, and it's clear that the time in the studio with the aforementioned hitmakers was well spent. The single "Passing You By" is heartfelt, sensitive, and anchored with a memorable melody. Better still is "Dreams," a song that, with its twists and turns and heartachey emotion, might be one of Boyz II Men's most beautiful tracks to date. They have created a very soulful, very adult, and very good record. Call it a comeback.

Her name may not be as instantly recognizable as Anita Baker's, but if you're a fan of Baker, you're bound to love Adams. After working toward a solid reputation in her native Kansas, she was discovered while working a hotel-lounge gig by Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears and became one of the band's regular guests (their "Woman in Chains" is included here). This collection includes an impressive list of contributors (including Irene Cara on backing vocals) and worldwide hits like "Get Here," an emotional tearjerker that showcase's Adams's amazing voice. Many tracks veer into MOR territory (what else can you expect with a cover of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me"?) and straight-out-of-a-musical style ("Embraceable You"); if you're looking for more funk in your soul, your best bet is "Rhythm of Life." --Rebecca Wallwork

The Very Best of Oleta Adams primarily consists of material from her first three albums. The big mystery of this 1998 collection is the lack of material from 1990's Circle of One, by far her strongest and more musically varied set of songs. A mere three tunes are included here: "Get Here," the Soul II Soul-styled "Rhythm of Life," and the rousing "Circle of One." Her weaker second album, Evolution, however, is represented by no less than five tracks, and four songs from Moving On also appear. The Very Best of Oleta Adams also includes material that was never previously available on an Oleta Adams album. Tears for Fears' Seeds of Love hit "Woman in Chains" is here, and Adams' pitch-perfect vocal harmonies play off Roland Orzabal's melodramatic bombast surprisingly well. Though a more subtle arrangement may have been more successful, her rendition of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" (which appeared on the Elton John/Bernie Taupin covers album Two Rooms in 1991) is performed with such gusto Elton John's version pales by comparison. Adams also shows off her astonishing range on the Gershwin classic "Embraceable You" and a nice reading of Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers to Cross." Although The Very Best of Oleta Adams lacks two of her best performances -- Circle of One's gorgeous version of "Everything Must Change" (which has been recorded by countless artists, including Gene Harris, Nina Simone, Carmen McRae, and Barbra Streisand) and the aforementioned "New York State of Mind" -- it is a pleasant collection that showcases Oleta Adams' beautiful voice, even on lackluster material. ~ by William Cooper, www.allmusic.com

Bursting with the airtight harmonies, feet-sweeping melodies, and scrub-free swagger the foursome from Philly's come to be known for, Boyz II Men aren't taking any chances with Full Circle, their sixth studio album (and their first on Antonio "L.A." Reid's Arista label). Full Circle's got everything we expect from the guys: the perfect falling-in-love ballad (the Babyface penned and produced "Color of Love"); the heartrending break-up ballad ("Oh Well," penned alongside mega producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis); the kickback midtempo ballad ( "Relax Your Mind," featuring Faith Evans); and the obligatory uptempo, let's-get-the-party-started number ("Ain't a Thang Wrong"), which is unfortunate, since it's the only track that breaks up the album's candlelit flow. Still, a genuine ardor seeps through the tracks, and Reid's meticulous production makes this outing a far stronger and more satisfying effort than the Boyz' last album, 2000's Nathan, Michael, Shawn, and Wanya. --Sylvia W.
